Brant Rock, MA

Today Brant Rock, MA is a small ocean hamlet with a population of just a little over 5,000 yet historically it holds a very important distingtion.  One Hundred years ago, in December of 1906, Reginald A. Fessenden transmitted the first broadcast of the human voice along with recorded and live music.

On December 29, 2006 at 3:00 pm EST we will gather at the same location that Fessenden used 100 years ago.  In the shadow of the original concrete base that suppoorted Station "BO" (Big Ocean) antenna, these radio operators will exchange Greeting and Salutations in honor of the Brant Rock group.

Fessenden's right hand man, Adam Stein was the first voice to be heard over the Atlatic ocean.  His grandson, George A. Stein, NJ3H will join our group and operate wireless voice transmitting equipment just as his Grandfather did.

Bands Operated from Brant Rock.

GB1FVT (First Voice Transmission)  will operate within feet of the one of the Mast Anchor posts and its wire antennas will be over the sea. This building can be seen on several pix on our web site and is an old Lifeboat shed (1911) now used by Stirling University as a conference centre.  We will be operating from approx 1100z till 1600z on the event dates but will also operate prior those dates for the local school kids.  We will try staying near 14205 to 14215kc/s to enable stations to find us, with preference being given to USA and Canadian stations.  All our equipment is being supplied by ICOM as was the case in Jan.2006 and all contacts will be QSL'd via the bureau or direct with sae to GM3TNT QTHR.

If sked' s required pse contact evemcarthur@aol.com with details prior event.
